TEX07 (2019): Bands
PRIORS
Garagepunk // CAN
Priors gives us a perfect exponent of the greatly underappreciated Canadian punkscene. With their latest work “New Pleasures” this quintet from Montreal flirts with trashy garagepunk, hypnotising fuzzy riffs, screaching anologue synths en intense drummisuse. What? Indeed, expect to witness crazy, colourful punk while straddling a fake rodeo bull .... or something like that. Going berserk, that’s what it is! |

The Backyard Band
Blues-’n’-boogiepunk // GER
Thes young guns from Koln are more rigid than the Dom of their city. Their blues-'n-boogiepunk with heartfelt harmonica sounds makes you swing between the Mississipie blues and serious rock-'n-roll. Ideal for reckless cruising during a nightly broadcasting of Strassenfeger... TEXtival 0.7 gives you the excellent opportunity for playing airguitar or trying out some of your wildest moves. |

Pedigree
Punk // Tournai
Straightforward punk from Watermoulin, our favourite punkshack of Tournai. We like! Pedigree is a brand new band with members of Sects Tape, Three Marvin Gays (TEX04), Regal... Ideal for training our neckmuscles and dancing about! And no, we don’t have anything to do with dogs ;-). |

WuduB!? & Babylonbuster
Dub // Moen-Ghent
Jamaica is in da building! Be it with 100% rootsreggea or with pumping dub-bass, these gentleman contribute surely to the global warming, at least very locally. Get ready for a piping hot rub-a-dub party with the dubplates of DJ WuduB en the hypnotising toasting from Babylonbuster. Ja, rastafari and i and i,i,i... |
|
Two Russian Cowboys
Cultband // Kortrijk
This cultband from Kortrijk with Luck Dufourmont, Dick Descamps and Hugo Bourgeois plays a crazy mix of country, americana, surf, avant-garde, western and eastern.... always with absurd lyrics in the West-Flemish dialect. Their song “Gegingegeugengie” is the perfect example of this. These gents, who have already been playing for decades in bands like Idiots and Ugly Papas, will entertain you at TEXtival 0.7 with their musical sillyness. Beware! |

Rijmtekkie Spansman
Hiphop // Kortrijk
Rijmtekkie Sponsman is a thoroughbred rapper, freestyling fluently between word and form, funk and hiphop, seriousness and sillyness... and back. Spansman has been a member of the hiphopscene for many years. First he joined Prev and Dj Splinta to become the heavily underrated Rijmtechniekers, then he created the monsterpact Het Verdikt with other Flemish rappers after which he funked himself to death as frontman of the M’nB’s. After his noted performance on End of the Weak, where he - being already champion of Belgium - took the fifth place in the World Final Freestyle Rap, Spansman went on to focus fully on his solo career. He mixes effortlessly social conscience, tongue-in-cheeck humour and lush party vibes. Hel’ll present his new album that will appear later this year, 100% Sint-Jan-Style! |

Whorses
Noiserock // Kortrijk
You can’t pin Whorses down. Whilst their succesful single “Rocky” seems to start of slowly, you’ll soon wake up to sometimes extatic noise. Heavy guitars as welle as psyhedelic and even poppy intermezzo’s, it all fit the Whorses sound. There a fair chance they’ll knock you out with their complete own sound! |
|
Azmari
Psychedelic Ethiogrooves Afrobeat // Brussels
The Brussels’ collective Azmari takes you on an intoxicating worldtrip. This band freewheels loosely among (oriental) funk, Ethiopean jazz, Afrobeat and psychedelic grooves. Let them take you from a Moroccan souk, over a sultry oasis in East-Africa to a Turqish seventies disco. A thousand and one nights are simply too short to tell all their tales! |
|
Muffins
Doggyrock // Kortrijk
Muffins are a young band from Kortrijk, named after their favourite dog. They call their style: Doggyrock, with six nipples and full of mad dog sounds. In their sharp shoegaze we detect the ideal soundtrack for a riotousness freerun across the festival grounds. Miauw, sorry woof woof! |
